Addictions are one of the most common struggles that a single person can battle on a day to day basis. They spread from alcoholism, gambling, drugs to sex, pornography and so much more.
But what do all these addictions have in common? They all help an addict fill an emptiness that is inside them. Even when clean, they still feel that emptiness, they just have to find a new way to cope with it. The same way someone who suffers from depression and anxiety would cope and while addictions can stem from depression and anxiety, it doesn’t grow unless the person battling them allows it. This makes addiction a giant mental game- was it genetics that caused the growth or the environment they were raised in?
So, why am I doing a documentary focusing on drug addiction? You may not be aware of it but, someone close to you could be battling this addiction. While this is not a rare battle, staying clean can be. My documentary doesn’t focus on doing drugs and why they did them but, the person who grew from their addiction and their day to day life since choosing to stay clean. The documentary is to get you into the mindset of a drug addict- what are their struggles? Are their goals more intense than yours? What happens when they are around a trigger? This documentary is for you. So that you can understand more about this addiction that has a false stereotype built behind it. This documentary is to make people aware of how normal someone who is a drug addict can be.
